Movies

The Oscars are on tomorrow night and I'll be watching. I often watch a lot of those award shows even though I end up getting ticked off half the time because they're so lame or they pick the stupidest movies and stars to win. In my opinion. Ha!

Usually I've only seen one or two of the movies up for awards but this year I rented a couple on tv and saw others on channels that I subscribed to. I sometimes sign up for Showtime or HBO for a month or two just to catch up on shows I have heard about.  I'm usually gungho when I first start watching but after I've seen what I want to see, I lose interest. My HBO ends tomorrow but I signed up for Showtime last night. It's only $12 a month.

Anyhow, I've seen a handful of the movies that were nominated this year.

All Quiet on the Western Front I may watch tonight since it's on Netflix.  P.S. I did watch it and while it was good, to me it was just another war movie with a lot of graphic killing.

Avatar: The way of water is only being shown in theaters but I don't go to theaters anymore and that kind of movie doesn't really interest me anyhow.

The one movie I'd really like to see is Whale but it isn't even nominated. The star is, though. Brendan Frasier. I'd like to see him get it but the competition is really tight in that category and any of the five could win.

The Banshees of Inisherin was pretty good and it is nominated in several categories. Best movie, Best director, best screenplay and three of the actors.

I looked forward to both Elvis and The Fabelmans and I thought both were lame. Especially The Fabelmans and that kind of surprised me since it was Steven Spielberg.

I tried two times to watch Top Gun: Maverick but Tom Cruise totally turns me off so I didn't finish watching.

Women Talking I watched this afternoon and while it was good, it wasn't that good. Too dreary and I think other shows were better.

Tar doesn't interest me at all although I like Cate Blanchett. Maybe I'll watch it another day when there's nothing else on.

'Everything Everywhere all at once' totally bored me. I think it was only nominated because there are Asians starrring. Jamie Lee Curtis was nominated for supporting actress and while I really like Jamie, I think a lot of other actresses could have been nominated instead of her. I didn't even give it an hour.

I watched Triangle of Sadness this afternoon and it was pretty good. I like Woody Harrelson anyhow and I laughed out loud several times. I recently watched him on HBO in an old show called True Detectives. Him and Mathew McConaughey both got Golden Gloves for that show and both deserved it. Super good. c

Tomorrow I will make salmon loaf and green bean casserole for dinner. Will make it ahead so I can sit and watch the Oscars which I think start at 5 pm. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting and I really like him.

I finished another quilt yesterday and started a new puzzle this morning. This one I ordered on Amazon as I was getting so discouraged with the ones downstairs missing pieces. I've waited all week for the hematologist to call but then I expected to be put on the back burner. I'll give them another week and then call my doctor to complain. Today I looked on my chart to see if there were any new messages from her and she wrote that my last blood test results weren't great. This was a special smear she ordered so the hematologist would have more info. She wrote:

Your results were reviewed and it showed abnormal cells that may be related to inherited blood disorder which is so mild that it is only coming to light now. I would still like you to see hematology before your surgery. I think it was kinda lame of her to not give me a tad more info. Sounds kind of ominous to me what with knowing my platelets are low too. Perhaps this is the thing that will finally kill me. Whatever.

Well, I think I'll scoop up a bowl of ice cream now and settle in to watch one or two movies.a movie.

Granddaughter Maddie has graduated from the Air Force Academy now. Yay! They're both so dang cute!
