My New Adventure Begins

It's a little after 4 pm and I just woke up from a nap. This move really wore me out. I thought I had downsized pretty well but once the gang started filling up the Uhaul I wasn't at all sure it was going to fit. It did along with two cars. My pal, Mary Gaboury, happened to be back in town that morning and walked over to say goodbye. Ironically, she moved the week earlier to Orting.

Here's some pictures of the moving crew. I had sevenpeople helping me. My two daughters and their husbands, my grandson and his girl friend, and my brother, Dana. I didn't do too good at getting pictures of everyone.

Surprisingly, the whole packing up ordeal only took one hour! I was really surprised. And I'm betting all the helpers were happy it went fast too. Moving is such a hard chore. Mary drove my car while Andy drove their car pulling the Uhaul. We stopped in Tacoma to pick up Jake and Poppy and had lunch at Panera's Bread. That was sure yummy.  Jake and Poppy rode with me and Mary and we were off. I enjoyed all the scenery along the way.

Mary had told me earlier that she hired two teenage boys to help unpack when we got to Vancouver. Come to find out, Jenni had told her to tell me that so I wouldn't worry and fret over how we were going to get everything into the apt. Mary and Andy ended up bringing everything inside. I was no help whatsoever as my feet continue to give me issues. I felt so bad for them.

For the next few days, I tried to put things in order. I overdid it, of course and by the time I went to bed I was achy and sore from head to toe.

I hope to get a twin bed for myself as soon as possible because the queen Mary has in their now pretty much takes up the entire room. It's going to be very cozy once I can unpack the rest of my boxes.

Here are some shots of the rest of the apartment.
This cute table was my tv table but I didn't need it as the tv now sits on top of my bookcase. The kitchen
cabinet space is limited so I used the table shelves to hold some of my bowls. My printer sits on top.
This bookcase was given to me years ago by my brother and I'm using two of the shelves now for dishes and small appliances on the bottom.
This is my kitchen area. I eat breakfast and lunch in here but Mary often has me to dinner.
I had to put up some decorations so I put two Disney magnets on my large frige.
This white cupboard that I used for sewing needs now is used for various spices, coffee cups, and on the bottom, my waffle iron and sugar and flour cannisters. I still use my walker to get around a lot and it's easy to use on these floors. Mary and Andy are trying to find longer venetian blind wands for me as the ones in here are so high I can't reach them. Having the same problem in my shower. I can't reach the shower nozzle. Andy is trying to figure out how to lower it. I ended up going to a free medical supply store to pick up a toilet as the one here is very low and it was difficult for me to sit down and get up again.  Really feeling my age these days.

I drove to Safeway this morning and it was fairly close. Mary went with me. It was a very nice store but I discovered that I seem to have gone backwards as far as walking goes and I suffered even holding on to the cart. I may have to get a riding cart next time I go. I'm hoping I can eventually see a poditrist to find out what is wrong with my damn feet. It is so annoying when your mobility is challenged.

Here's a cute picture of Poppy begging me for food.

And here's Jake posing in one of his helmets.

Here's a shot of Mary and Andy's patio and the front of their house.

I park in the front driveway and then walk left to my own entryway. The window on the left in  this photo is my bedroom. It's supposed to get into the 90's this week so I'm super happy that this house has a/c. I don't do heat that well.

This apt is a little smaller than the Discovery View apt but I will make do. I've got my tv and computer and plan on doing all my other activities....jigsaw puzzles, reading, rock painting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, genealogy research, blogging, writng letters and sewing. Lots to keep me busy.

I was going to send out postcards this week but they're hard to find. Which kind of surprises me. We're going to try Fred Meyer next. I'm hoping to get a hair cut this week but otherwise nothing much planned except resting up.

Have noticed the local news is just like Seattle news. Drugs, murders, robbery, the homeless. Such a happy America.  It's so quiet in here, half the time I don't even know if Mary and Andy are home.
